Stars 2011 - Best New Entrant - Lindsay Jones

A SHINING STAR!

Entering into a new career can often be a challenging and daunting time but, for one local hospitality employee, it was definitely the right thing to do as she scooped a top award less than twelve months after swapping exams papers for event organising!

Lindsay Jones, Conference and Events Manager at Hodsock Priory was awarded ‘Best New Entrant’ at the 2011 Nottinghamshire Stars awards ceremony recognising her commitment to her new role.

“It was a lovely surprise to win the award and I am thrilled,” commented Lindsay. “I can honestly say I have never looked back and am delighted to be part of the team at Hodsock Priory and to be part of the exciting new developments that are taking place here.”

Lindsay, who previously worked as Assistant head teacher at The Elizabethan School in Retford manages ‘The Courtyard at Hodsock’. It is a contemporary development of ten self catering luxury suites in the old estate dairy and she has also created an eclectic summer events programme, the highlights of which are Shakespeare’s Globe performing ‘As You Like It’ in the Priory Grounds, at the end of this month and The Cambridge Touring Theatre bringing family favourite ‘Wind in the Willows’ to the gardens in July.

“Lindsay deserves this award and we are so pleased that her hard work and commitment has been recognised in front of her industry peers,” commented George Buchanan ninth generation resident and general manager Hodsock Priory. “The last twelve months have been very exciting at Hodsock in terms of what we offer to the public and I am looking forward to working with Lindsay for many years to come.”

Lindsay follows in the footsteps of Lynda Pepper, weddings manager at Hodsock Priory who is a previous winner of the Nottinghamshire Stars ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award.

Chad Enterprise Awards 2010 - Winner - Most Innovative Building

HODSOCK PRIORY – IT’S A WINNER!

An exciting new development at the stunningly beautiful Hodsock Priory has scooped the winner’s crown for the Most Innovative Property/Building Development at The Mansfield Chad Enterprise Awards 2010.

‘The Courtyard at Hodsock’ – located within the picturesque 800 acre estate nestled on the border of South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire - has seen the sympathetic restoration of the old estate dairy to create 10 luxury self catering accommodation suites, as well as a meeting and training room. It is the latest in an on-going programme of investment and restructuring as the Priory diversifies from its typical farming background consolidating its position as a premier wedding, conference and events, and short break venue.

“We are thrilled that the hard work by the team who brought our dreams and plans to life has been recognised within the wider business community,” commented George Buchanan, ninth generation resident and general manager. “The Courtyard has been extremely well received by all our visitors and we are looking forward to welcoming many more. We love to see our home enjoyed by others and, now they can stay a while, it allows them more time to explore this very pretty corner of England.”

During the planning stage of the development every consideration was given to ensure the accommodation was sustainable and used eco-friendly energy where appropriate and attained high energy efficiency credentials.

"Our judging panel particularly appreciated the attention to detail in our winner's project and the sympathetic handling of its historical setting,” commented Tracy Powell, Editor Mansfield Chad. “By expanding its appeal to visitors and guests, Hodsock has shown its skill and expertise in managing a substantial project and delivering a stunning addition to its portfolio. No-one who has visited the newly renovated Courtyard at Hodsock Priory can deny its achievement as an innovative property development."

The project has been supported through the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), which is jointly funded by Defra and the European Union, and is delivered by East Midlands Development Agency (emda).
