There’s nothing more satisfying than the scents and sounds of the early morning in the 12 acres of Horsepasture Wood. From listening to birdsong and calls from the trees while the dew still glistens on the woodland floor, to smelling the fragrance of thousands of Bluebells in the air, it’s a heavenly place to be.
To experience this yourself, we advise you come early for a visit and start the day with brunch – coffee and freshly cooked breakfast butties are available from the lovely ladies at our Woodland Cafe.
Then walk the woodland paths and see some of our most impressive bluebell displays. We’ve 12 acres to explore and we have accessible routes straight into Horsepasture Wood. Have your cameras ready and take a couple of hours to roam.
The Woodland Café & Play Area
Grab a hot drink and snack in the heart of the Bluebell Woods. Open each day, our team at the Woodland Café by the campfire (where George’s free daily history talk takes place) will be serving teas, coffees, homemade cakes, bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches. [Please note: cash only at Woodland Cafe for bluebells and we do not have the Marquee Tearooms for this event.]
Bring the kids or grandchildren for some outdoor fun at our homemade balance beam playground or building dens.
Toilets and facilities
We have toilets situated near the entrance to the woodland and kiosk. Disabled facilities and baby changing facilities are also available.
Dogs are regrettably not permitted in the Garden, Woodlands and Grounds, with the exception of Assistance Dogs. Dogs are welcome to take a stroll in the parkland outside the gardens (with links to public rights of way) but should be kept on lead and under close control at all times.
