Our Snowdrop season is very weather dependant. Snowdrops need a cold and bright winter to be at their best. Unfortunately rain and snow can delay the growth of the Snowdrops. Check our Facebook page and Twitter feeds for regular Snowdrop updates.
Some of our paths are stoney so can be accessed when it has been raining. Our woodland paths however are not barked or chipped so if we have experienced a downpour then our paths will be muddy and may be difficult to access with wheelchairs and pushchairs. Check the local forecast and bring appropriate attire such as wellies, waterproofs and warm clothing.
We welcome around 400 wheelchair users each year to Snowdrops at Hodsock. The paths around the garden are accessible with electric and manual wheelchairs and pushchairs. However our woodland and some garden paths are not barked or chipped so will be difficult to access especially in wet weather. Our gift shop and tea rooms are in heated marquees, and some toilets are accessible. Our staff are on hand to help any of our visitors. Disabled parking spaces are allocated near to the Gatehouse.

Sorry - no dogs allowed in the Gardens or Woods

Regrettably, we do NOT allow dogs in the Gardens or Woods at Hodsock. Each year, many dog owners come and exercise their dogs in the Car Park (a 10 acre field with links to public rights of way) and then leave their dogs in their cars while they go in and enjoy the Garden and Woods.

We have excellent outdoor, permanent toilet facilities close to the Tea Room. We have disabled facilities and baby change too.
Yes our plant sales are open daily and we have additional souvenirs, local produce and children’s gifts available in our Snowdrops Gift Shop, run for us by Floral Media from Caunton.
Our tea rooms serve quality meals, snacks and drinks sourced from local producers. You can find tea and cake, pie and peas and a wide range of hot drinks and food. Our Woodland Cafe area has hot drinks and home made goodies on sale every day, right in the centre of the woods, amongst the snowdrops, next to the campfire.

NB: on Bluebell dates, only the Woodland Cafe will be open for hot butties, homemade cakes and drinks (cash only please).

Hodsock is well serviced with bridle paths leading to Carlton-in-Lindrick, Langold and Blyth. We welcome cyclists and although we do not provide cycle lockers, we do have storage facilities on site that are suitable. All items are left at owners risk. Please ask at the kiosk for details.
We have a very small marketing budget so we hugely appreciate the stunning photographs that we receive from visitors to our Snowdrop gardens each year. These are often used within the following year’s promotional materials with the photographer’s credits accordingly. Please do share your digital images with us, by post, WeTransfer, or email. You’re very welcome to tweet us your images @HodsockPriory too with the hashtag #Snowdrops2018. Thank you in advance for your enthusiasm!
A. *NEW for 2018* is a special weekend (16-18 Feb) of outdoor aerial and acrobatic theatre in the woods included within the main ticket price. 5pm Fire & LIght performances incur a £2.50 per adult charge.
Families can stroll the gardens and woodland, and the small forest play area has balance posts and sticks to build dens. There’ll be plenty of mud and sticks, so remember your wellies. Pick up a ‘Find it in the Garden’ game at the entry kiosk upon arrival.
