Plan your Visit

The Snowdrop winter gardens are nestled in the 800 acre Hodsock estate. Along with more than 100 acres of woodland, our 4 million snowdrops cover around 5 acres of the estate, including natural collections, established displays and lawns packed with the tiny white flowers.

Opening Times and Top Tips

The Snowdrops at Hodsock 2017 season has now ended. We will re-open again on Saturday 10th February 2018 until Sunday 4th March 2018.

We welcome visitors seven days a week during the Snowdrop season, come rain or shine. Tickets can be purchased either online in advance (valid for any date within the season) or on arrival on the day at the entry Kiosk.

Please DO dress in warm outdoor clothing and DON’T forget to bring your wellies or walking boots as some areas can get a little muddy.

There’s a well signed walk around the gardens with short cuts for those who are less mobile and walk extensions for those wanting to roam the woodland. Extended walks around the estate and local area will be signposted.

Join George Buchanan, the manager and ninth generation resident of Hodsock Priory at 2pm daily by the campfire. He’ll enlighten you with his History Talk including secrets about the estate and his ancestors.

Refreshments are available in the Marquee Tea Room and outdoor Woodland Café by the campfire. Toilets are also available on site.

Dogs

Dogs are regrettably not permitted in the Snowdrop Garden and Grounds, with the exception of Assistance Dogs.

Dogs are welcome to take a stroll in the parkland outside the gardens but should be kept on lead and under close control at all times. Dogs and their owners can enjoy extended walks around the nearby local village of Blyth, set in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside.

The marquee tea room

Our luxury heated and windowed Marquee Tearoom can be found near the Gatehouse. Sit back, relax and admire the views of the Snowdrop woodland. Every day, we’ll be serving up luxury cream teas, pies, soups and pie and peas – homemade food from Ann Wright and her trusty team.

The Marquee Tea Room

Choose from a selection of fine teas, rich coffees or indulge in tasty hot chocolate. Our counters are lined with sandwiches made from local artisan breads and homemade cakes fresh from the Hodsock kitchen. Available every day in the Tea Room during Snowdrop season.

Accessibility

We identify preferred routes for less able visitors and the footpaths immediately around the house and formal gardens can be accessed by wheelchair.

Other routes are across grassland and woodland and can get very muddy which can be difficult for wheelchairs, motorised vehicles and pushchairs.

Please note that wheelchairs are not available to hire on site.

See our Accessibility page for more details.
