A BRIDGERTON INSPIRED WEDDING AT HODSOCK PRIORY
WRITTEN BY EVENT SYTLIST IN AWE WEDDINGS & EVENTS
Hodsock Priory is a hidden wedding venue gem steeped in history and set amongst 800 acres of rolling North Yorkshire countryside. After taking the same steps as Henry VIII climbing the Tudor gatehouse back in August 2020, I found myself picturing a towering floral arch in between its archway and a huge outdoor lounge on their Italian Terrace.
As a brand wedding stylist I was then thrilled to be asked by the venue to produce a branding photoshoot for them that coincided with their brand-new website, to showcase Hodsock Priory the way that it should be, as a truly magnificent venue to host your wedding day. I wanted to embody a beautiful mix of tradition and modernity throughout the shoot and there really is something so romantic about an antique setting, an abundance of florals, and French-inspired details. Emma Ryan’s photography style was then the perfect choice, she has a stunning modern style and an ability to capture the smallest of details effortlessly. I also wanted an editorial film to compliment the shoot; telling a story of the day and encapsulating the atmosphere. Jenny Appleton always produces such amazing films and this one is no exception.

THE FLORAL DESIGN
An Abundance Of Stunning Blooms
With Hodsocks gatehouse being a total of 15” high we knew the florals had to be showstopping, Sass Flower delivered and then some!
Sasha is an absolute pro and crafted the most beautiful installation under the Archway for the ceremony, she then went onto adorn the tablescape with huge white arrangements accented with blue hydrangeas, and she elevated Wedhead’s new gorgeous outdoor bar ‘Eloise’ and lounge area with her innovative arrangements and floral design. Flowers are a huge part of wedding design for me and I always say the more the better, and this shoot certainly had blooms in abundance!

THE DETAILS
Wedding Design That’s Always Detail Led
As the table is where many sit, listen, eat, and drink as a wedding party in its entirety, I find this is where a lot of those treasured memories are made. The detail in the styling of this space is always very important as it becomes the backdrop for delicious food and emotional speeches. Using Duchess & Butler and Just 4 Linen I layered textures and colours of the urbane linen and gave the place setting some height with three plates for that extra wow.

THE EXPERIENCE
Evoking Emotions For An Exceptional Luxury Guest Experience
As an experience-led planner, I always style and plan my client’s weddings based on evoking an exceptional experience. When planning this shoot it was really important to me to encapsulate that essence of what In Awe Weddings & Events is all about – atmosphere, this aligned with the venues brief perfectly, as Hodsock is now hosting Weekend Weddings regularly full of events and epic parties! We scattered details throughout the experience in order to give authenticity to the shoot. Confetti throwing, garden roaming, an outdoor bar lounge with stunning Balinese parasols, champagne tower, delicious patisserie station by Storeybook Cakes, balloon ceiling by Balloons Blooms & Beyond, and finally Made my Night’s performance stole the show.

WEDDING PARTY LOOKS
A Selection Of Handpicked Designers
The White Closet are the epitome of where the modern bride is shopping, and as so many brides are now opting for two looks on their big day, we collaborated with them to showcase the contrast of ‘Bridgerton Bow’ classical style dress from Jesus Peiro for the ceremony, and a fashion-forward Half Penny London Slip and her ‘Issa Shrug’, perfect for dancing the night away. I love the contemporary style of mismatched bridesmaids dresses and the Needle & Threads pieces looked absolutely stunning. Our Groom also went from a lighter day suit into a darker evening jacket, he made a statement in the Marc Darcy Suits which were covered in gorgeous details, lining, stitching, and texture.
The bride’s gowns were accessorised with Victoria Percival Halos (they were the most showstopping headbands!) and some bespoke jaw-dropping diamond rings handcrafted by Temprell. Amy George and Emily Hawkes produced two stunning beauty looks, one more natural with a slick updo and another darker evening look with a glamorous finger wave. All three ladies spent the day in Charlotte Mills heels, not only are they impeccably made but they stood the test of time on our 9-hour shoot!
