Real Wedding Inspiration at Hodsock Priory: Monica & Charles

We’re thrilled to be sharing Charles & Monica’s beautiful spring celebration at Hodsock Priory. This style-savvy couple created a dark fairy-tale wedding with gorgeous details and bold designs that will inspire you on your wedding planning journey.  From a bespoke three-tier black wedding cake to a temporary tattoo bar, and finishing the evening dancing the night away with custom-made cocktails.

Charles and Monica elected to hold both their ceremony and reception at Hodsock Priory, after falling in love with the distinct character of the house and its countryside setting. When choosing their country house wedding venue, Monica explains, “Hodsock was the first wedding venue we went to see and we instantly fell in love. It’s such a breath-taking building inside and out”.

Monica and Charles adored the thought of a spring wedding, opting for a unique and enchanting dark fairy-tale wedding theme. Nuptia UK provided eccentric décor whilst Millies Floral Boutique completed the look with epic floral designs. Marie explains “We went for a Miss Havisham vibe…I loved my flowers, they were one of my favourite things about the whole day”. The coupe also created bespoke dachshund stationery and favours, adding a little bit of fun to their table design.

Monica wore a stunning gown by Chloe Jane Bridal, with a custom-made bone crown by Virginia and Wolf, completing her fashion-forward macabre inspired look. Monica’s bridesmaids looked sensational in dresses from Once upon a Dress, whilst Charles and his groomsmen donned suits from Revolver Menswear

Food plays an important part in any wedding, getting the menu right was important to Monica & Charles. The couple opted for warm goat’s cheese salads and minted ham croquettes to start, with choices of Fillet of Beef, crispy Hake, and wild mushroom Gratin for mains. They finished off with a palette cleansing raspberry Posset, and an exquisite white and dark chocolate mousse.

Monica and Charles’ words of wisdom:

“Go with your gut feelings, and make decisions that make YOU happy. Some people will not be thrilled with all of your choices, but weddings are about the bride and groom and what you want for your special day”
