At Hodsock Priory we’ve seen it all, from huge celebrations to more intimate big days. Our beautiful country home, 800 acres of glorious gardens and 360-degree countryside views make the perfect setting for your big day, whatever size guest list you have in mind. We welcomed some of the best wedding suppliers across Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and beyond to Hodsock for this styled shoot. Packed with stunning small wedding inspiration, it’s a masterclass in how to throw an unforgettable wedding, no matter the size. If you’re planning an intimate wedding, you have to see this…

Small ceremony inspo

While Hodsock Priory’s larger spaces, like the Pavilion, can accommodate up to 130 guests, if you’re after a smaller affair, we also have you covered. Our stunning Library can fit up to 28 guests for your ceremony, while the Ante Room is perfect for up to 15 guests. Both these beautiful spaces are packed with period features, from the wood-panelled Library complete with roaring log fire, to the airy Ante Room with its statement chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows, and really deliver on style. You can even say your ‘I do’s at a celebrant-led ceremony in Hodsock Priory’s gardens or our 16th century Tudor Gatehouse.

Styling a small reception

Just because you want to enjoy a smaller wedding day, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on a wow-them reception. Running with a gold and antique rose colour scheme, Hodsock’s Pavilion was transformed into a grand dining space. Gold charger plates, vintage candlesticks and dusky pink candles lined the long table. This created an intimate dining experience with a real sense of occasion.

Little touches like the gold wax seals on place names, and antique rose linen napkins tied with ribbon and bunches of foliage, brought the colour scheme together perfectly.

Dramatic, oversized white floral arrangements, featuring dahlias, roses and textured greenery added some grand statement centrepieces. Intricate chair back ties finished it all off with a luxe-boho feel.

The cakes looked almost too good to eat. Displayed alongside a wedding easel, floral arrangement and chic welcome arch, they certainly had the wow factor. We love giving wedding cakes their chance in the spotlight; these are something else!

Bridal style, whatever your style

There are no fashion rules when you get married. Whether you want to go for all-out glamour, a more boho feel or a traditional style, it’s your call. Here, the bride showcased 3 very different looks, all of which looked amazing against the backdrop of historic Hodsock Priory. From a slinky, low V-neck, form-fitting gown to an illusion lace, long sleeve wedding gown with dreamy tulle princess skirt, this styled shoot delivered some seriously stylish bridal looks.

The groom also showed how Hodsock Priory’s grand house and romantic gardens lend themselves to either a tweed 3-piece suit or a classic black and white tux, complete with bright red bow tie.

The traditional flower girl dress, paired with a modern hair vine, created a really timeless style. We think this pretty look is perfect for working into your Hodsock wedding – big or small.
