Unique ways to personalise your wedding at Hodsock Priory

Wedding season is in full flow and each week we love seeing how our couples choose to put their personal stamp on their big day at Hodsock Priory. While they all have one thing in common – choosing Nottinghamshire’s historic country house Hodsock Priory as their luxurious wedding venue – the details are always different. There are so many unique ways to personalise your wedding, from thoughtful favours to quirky guest book ideas. Take inspiration from our real couples and add a fun personal touch to your big day at Hodsock Priory.

Your ceremony, your way

It all starts with the ceremony and at Hodsock Priory we offer plenty of choice to suit your big day style and size. For an intimate, traditional feel, say your ‘I do’s in Hodsock’s atmospheric Panelled Hall – an extraordinary ceremony space filled with beautiful antiques and elegant family portraits. The wood panelled walls and large open fire add a welcoming feel, while the large windows let the natural light pour in.

For a more contemporary setting, Buchanan Hall is a chic choice. With an unmistakable English country house vibe, the neutral-coloured walls and natural wooden floors add a more minimalistic, pared-back feel where you can personalise the space in any way you choose.

Calling all romantics – our elegant Georgian-style gazebo, surrounded by Hodsock Priory’s picturesque gardens, is the ultimate outdoor ceremony space. Exchange vows in the sunshine, with the scent of roses and the sound of birdsong providing the most unforgettable of backdrops.

Show us a sign

An easy way to personalise your wedding is with signage that matches your big day style. From elegant calligraphy to fun, annotated timelines and seating plans, there’s plenty of opportunity to add some personality to your wedding from the very start.

Reception styling inspo

There are so many ways you can personalise your wedding breakfast space at Hodsock. Our grand and airy Pavilion is bright, spacious and ready for you to put your unique stamp on. Whether you opt for long tables or traditional round tables around the main top table, it’s completely up to you how you make the most of our space. Floral arrangements and large light-up letters all help to add a personal touch to your reception – just take the lead from our past couples.

Think about favours

Favours are a great way to show off your couple style and tie in with your big day theme, without having to spending too much. We love seeing the unique favours our couples choose for their own weddings, including everything from mini shot bottles to stylish iced biscuits.

We love the thought and effort that’s gone into these sweet favours. Here, every guest was greeted at their seat with a photo of them with the bride or groom, taken at various stages of their life. An absolute keepsake of a gift.

All about the food

While Hodsock Priory has you covered with the most incredible wedding food and evening menu, there’s plenty of opportunity to sprinkle some of your own foodie magic on your day. If savoury is your thing, why not opt for a multi-tiered cheese cake, for guests to enjoy with crackers during your evening reception?

Alternatively, offer a ‘help yourself’ sweetie table or ‘nibble station’ for guests to dip into whenever the mood takes them?

Guest book ideas

Having all your friends and family together to celebrate your wedding is a really special experience, so make sure you mark the occasion with a guest book. While many favour a traditional guest book, some of our recent couples have opted for something a little different instead. Here, one bride and groom asked friends to snap a photo using a mini instant camera and add it to their guest book alongside a note.

Audio guest books are a growing trend, and we love how our couples have worked it into their day. Here, guests are invited to leave a voice message for the newlyweds to treasure forever.

Using our outdoor space

Hodsock Priory has acres of outside space for our couples and their guests to explore. Take your cue from one of our couples and personalise your wedding with mini wooden tents to keep the youngest guests happy. There’s also the option of adding gazebos for some shade on a sunny day, as well as plenty of garden games for guests to get involved in.

V.I.Ps (that’s Very Important Pets)

Everyone is welcome at Hodsock, so if you can’t imagine saying your ‘I do’s without your beloved pet dog, bring them along! Bow ties on little dogs always get the thumbs up from us. How adorable is this guest of honour?

Stylish send off

However you end it, you want to wrap your wedding day up in style. Take inspiration from these cool couples and enjoy a twinkling sparkler send off or dramatic coloured smoke flare exit.
